Conscription Card Guide

Conscription is the Ottoman signature effect that "turns the enemy's men to your side". It is the only officially confirmed conversion mechanic among the five empires, and it changes how every trade against an Ottoman deck has to be counted: units that die near the empire may not stay dead — they may change flags.

The official description implies the effect scales with what it takes: converting a promoted captain is a two-unit swing (their loss, your gain), while converting a raw recruit only breaks even. Hold conscription effects for the highest-rank enemy unit you can reach, and expect good opponents to bait it with expendable bodies.

Conscription pairs naturally with the promotion system — an empire that can grow units AND steal them pressures the opponent's board from both directions. It is the reason Ottoman mirrors and Ottoman-vs-Ottoman-adjacent decks will revolve around protecting the root of the tree.
