Campaign Guide - Tournament & Book of Conquest
How the Bo1 tournament campaign works in Tughra: fighting each rival once, what defeat costs, how the Book of Conquest records your attempts, and what is officially known about the hidden sixth challenger.
Quick Answer: How Does the Campaign Work?
The campaign is a Bo1 tournament: you fight each rival exactly once, and the winner moves on to the next empire. Defeat does not end your run — the same rival returns, and the number of attempts it took is recorded in your Book of Conquest. When five empires have fallen, a sixth challenger appears: an empire with its own cards, its own seals and its own rules, whose identity stays hidden until you reach it — and it is not guaranteed to be the same one next time.
Why Bo1 Changes How You Play
Best-of-one means no sideboarding between games and no adapting to a rival across a series — adaptation happens across attempts instead. Every loss is information: bring a different seal, a different empire, or a different pacing the next time the same rival appears. Because the attempt count is written down, the campaign rewards players who treat defeats as scouting rather than setbacks.
- One match per rival: open with your most practiced empire, not your most theoretical one.
- Re-seal every match: the seal is chosen per match and the tournament lets you re-pick each rival.
- Scout on defeat: change exactly one variable per retry so the Book of Conquest reads like a lab notebook.
The Book of Conquest
The Book of Conquest is the campaign's record: which rivals fell, and how many attempts each one took. The official framing — "Victory is not cheap; it is written down" — tells you the design intent: the campaign is not a difficulty wall but a ledger. A clean Book (one attempt per empire) is the game's implicit challenge run; a stained Book is the normal, intended experience.
The Hidden Sixth Challenger
Beyond the five playable empires, the official site shows two sealed entries — and the Steam page confirms the shape of the endgame: after five empires fall, a sixth challenger appears with its own cards, its own seals and its own rules, and its identity is not guaranteed to repeat between campaigns. Nothing else is official yet. This page collects confirmed details as they surface and through launch week.
